Dr. Ercole Cavalieri - the science behind Preventium

Dr. Cavalieri’s intuition that estrogens could be cancer-causing agents in our body came from the observation that these molecules contain in their structure a benzene ring. In fact, benzene itself was found to cause leukemia a long time ago. Studying the metabolism of estrogens and their reaction with DNA, he has understood how these molecules can become cancer-causing agents. Among the metabolites of estrogens, there are two specific ones that react with DNA and from that reaction arise the mutations that can initiate breast, prostate and other human cancers. Nature, however, has designed a protective mechanism that prevents the estrogen metabolites from reacting with DNA. It is this protective mechanism that during our lifetime can be weakened by the influence of various factors, including diet, polluted environments and lifestyle. Preventium™ may help to maintain this protective mechanism or to potentially restore it if it has been weakened. The consequence of abnormal levels of estrogen-DNA adducts have been associated with damage to DNA.

For the past 35 years Dr. Rogan has devoted her scientific career to studying the causes and prevention of cancer. The research studies she has conducted over the years led to a clear understanding of how estrogens damage DNA and start the series of events that can produce breast and prostate cancer. It was a journey of many steps, with a clear long-term goal that guided her choices at all the forks in the research road. This led to her and her colleagues being able to develop Preventium™. Dr. Rogan’s goal is for everyone to have the chance to take Preventium™ and, thus, potentially reduce their risk for developing Breast and Prostate cancer. Dr. Jankowiak research focuses in the area of cancer causing chemicals and estrogen adducts

Ryszard Jankowiak, Ph.D.
Dr. Jankowiak's research focuses on the better understanding of electronic structure and dynamics of complex biological systems. In the area of cancer-causing chemicals and their metabolism, he has been collaborating with Drs. Cavalieri and Rogan for about 20 years, developing sensitive and selective techniques for the detection and identification of DNA adducts from various cancer-causing chemicals, including estrogens. He continues to develop techniques that one day could be applied in clinical settings for the detection of estrogen-derived biomarkers of cancer risk. He thinks that out-of-control formation of depurinating estrogen-DNA adducts, if not correctly handled, may play a major role in the initiation of breast and prostate cancer. With the help of Preventium™, which may provide a healthy way to minimize DNA damage in humans with an imbalance in estrogen metabolism, we may not only have a profound impact on our own health, but also on health care costs, in general.
